Committal
Alan Hayes Tweed, age 74, passed away peacefully at 4:40 a.m. at Carolina Caring Center in Catawba County on December 27,2025.
Alan was born on July 8, 1951, in Asheville, North Carolina, to the late Luther and Lanella Tweed of Woodfin. He was raised in Asheville, where he also spent his adult life building a home, a career, and a legacy rooted in love, faith, and hard work. Alan shared 55 devoted years of marriage with his beloved wife, Elizabeth Tweed, and together they created a life full of family, laughter, and lasting memories.
Alan worked at Carolina Tractor for 48 years, where he formed many cherished friendships and took great pride in working alongside some of the best people. His dedication and loyalty to his work reflected the kind of man he was—steady, dependable, and deeply committed.
Outside of work, Alan truly enjoyed life. He loved spending time with his family, being outdoors, caring for his family, and spreading love and joy wherever he went—often accompanied by his signature sense of humor and well-timed jokes. His laughter and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Alan was a man of strong faith. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church and Newbridge Baptist Church during his years in Asheville. After moving to Hickory, he became a member of Providence Baptist Church, where he was actively involved in the Senior group and found great fellowship.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Lanella Tweed; his sisters, Pamela Tweed and Wanda Blackwell; and his brother and best friend, Carroll Tweed and Sister-in-Law Gloria “Cricket” Tweed.
He leaves behind to carry on his legacy his loving wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Tweed; his daughter, Stephanie Tweed Walters of Hickory; his son-in-law, William Walters; and his two cherished grandchildren, Madison Walters and Jonathan Walters. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Brenda Tweed of Asheville, his Sister-in-Law and Brother-in-Law, Anna and Philip Player of Asheville along with countless nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Alan’s life was one marked by faith, family, hard work, and humor. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know him. Uncle Dude and Uncle Acky love you more.
