Agnes Mosteller Cooke, 96 of Morganton, NC died Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Magnolia Lane, Morganton. Born October 3, 1916 in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Luther and Rachel Ivester Mosteller. She attended Belwood High School and was a former employee of Ross Fabrics and Buster Brown. Agnes was a retired employee of Western Carolina Center and a member of Carpenter’s Grove Baptist Church, Lawndale, NC. She was an outstanding cook.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Cooke; a son, Daniel Jerome Cooke; brothers, John, Forest, Edgar, Willie, and Bob Mosteller; and sisters, Fannie Smith, Mae Costner, Lillian Littlejohn, and Texie Queen.Surviving are her grandson, Daniel Ryan Cooke; brother-in-law, Bonnell Queen; sisters-in-law, Mary C. Mosteller and Betty T. Mosteller; and a number of nephews and nieces.A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Carpenter’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Welch officiating. Following the service family and friends will gather in the church fellowship hall.
