Sandy Buchanan Hensley, 48, of Morganton, NC, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, January 11, 2024.
Born in Burke County, NC on July 5, 1975, she was the daughter of Robert Milton and Mary Jane Dellinger Buchanan. Sandy was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church. She worked as a dental assistant at Hudson Family Dental, and she loved her job. She was a great mother and was loved by all.
In addition to her parents, Sandy is survived by her husband, Terry Hensley; children, Sarah Hartsell and Shawn Hensley; and brothers, Michael Buchanan, Jimmy Buchanan, and Dwayne Major.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

I am so sadden along with my team at Ingles Starbucks to hear of the lose of this amazing sweet lady. We knew her like family seeing her almost every morning and she loved having her drink and seeing us “her girls” Fly high sweet lady, you will be missed!!
My heart goes out to Sandy’s family, friends, and all of those affected by her passing. I’d known Sandy since middle school and lost track of her after high school. She was always a friend and always fun to be around. I’m so sad that she is no longer with us. You all are certainly in my thoughts and prayers.🙏🏼
Sandy was taken way too soon from us. I know everyone that knew her, loved her. As did I. Fair journey, sister.
My heart aches for you Terry and Shawn, sandy was a true light to this world. I take comfort that she will be waiting for us all on the other side. We love you guys!

Sandy was an amazing mentor and friend. I will forever cherish the time I was able to spend with her learning and laughing. She always knew how to brighten a dreary day. She touched so many peoples lives just by being herself, mine included. I will miss her tremendously.
