Beth Morris Clough

Beth Morris Clough, 70, of Morganton, NC, passed away Monday, May 23, 2022.
Born in Burke County on February 6, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Roy Lee Morris and Clyde Elizabeth Smith Morris. Beth was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Mars-Hill University as a voice major. She shared her vocal talents by singing in Russia, London, and Paris as well as Carnegie Hall. One of her greatest joys was to sing in the choir at First Presbyterian Church and to sing in the Annual Burke County Combined Choirs under the direction of Jim Williams and Jim Gossler. Beth taught voice and piano lessons to many Burke County children for over 20 years.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Clough is survived by her husband, Ken Clough; son, Eric Clough (Brandy); daughter, Abby Powell (Nicholas); grandchildren, Thaniel and Clara Powell; brother, Kenneth Morris (Pat); and sister, Royce Bolick (Robert).
A celebration of Beth’s life will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, May 26, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Hagmann officiating. The family will greet friends in the fellowship hall following the service.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
