Maurice Dean Edge, Sr., 83, of Morganton, NC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

Born in Yancey County, NC on January 23, 1941, he was the son of the late Lewis Earl Edge and Maude Mae Gibbs Edge. Maurice was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church for over 24 years. He served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and sang in the choir. Mr. Edge was a US Army Corps of Engineers veteran of the Vietnam War and worked for over 35 years at SGL Carbon (formerly known as Great Lakes Carbon). Maurice volunteered with the Carbon City Fire Department and loved to garden and hunt.

Mr. Edge is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rose Ann Waters Edge; son, Mark D. Edge (Camille); grandson, Gabriel Edge; bonus granddaughters, Madison Crowe (Landon) and Samantha Reynolds (Tanner); bonus great-grandchildren, Aubree, Sawyer, Adaline, Owen, and Scottie; brother, Charles Edge (Doris); and sister, Adalene Ransone (Buck).

In addition to his parents, Maurice was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Joyce Edge; son, Stephen Blake Edge; and bonus granddaughter, Taylor Unell.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. in the church with Rev. Keith Burkhart and Dr. David Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the NC National Guard and Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
