Elizabeth “Lib” Burt Patterson

Elizabeth “Lib” Burt Patterson, 100, of Morganton died Thursday, July 4, 2019.  Born in Edgecombe County, NC on May 12, 1919, she was the daughter of the late William Alexander Burt and Mary Elizabeth Freeman Burt.  Lib was a member of North Morganton United Methodist Church.  Along with her husband, she owned and operated Windy Hill Farm before retiring to Florida.

Lib is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Fleming Patterson Metcalf (Tony) of Morganton; grandsons, Joel Gregg Widmer (Jan) of Fort Myers, FL, Matthew Ryan Metcalf (Stacey Carpenter) of Waxahachie, TX, Daniel Tyler Metcalf (Leigh Ann) of Morganton, and Jonathan Derrick Metcalf (Angela) of Palmer, TX; great-grandchildren, Briar Lane Metcalf, Daniel Tyler Metcalf, Jr., Brenna Ann Metcalf, Cash Lee Metcalf, Jared Carpenter, and Matthew Carpenter; niece, Belinda Weede; great-nephew, Thomas Haddock, Andy Weede (Amy), and Allen Weede (Sophia); and friend, Betty Jean “B.J.” Keene.

In addition to her parents, Lib was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Gregg Patterson; sister, Christine Weede; and nephew, Conway Weede.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 2019 at North Morganton United Methodist Church.  The memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Burt Williams and Pastor Tom Brooks officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
