Joanne Helen Fowler Smith
June 6, 1947 to June 22, 2022
Joanne Helen Fowler Smith, 75, of Connelly Springs, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.
Born in Fitchburg, MA on June 6, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Charles Fowler and Helen Deuyour. Joanne loved her church and church family at Olive Grove Baptist Church in Casar. She was a loving woman who enjoyed reading, playing cards, gospel music, and spending time and taking care of her family.
A loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Joanne is survived by her husband, Walter Allen Smith; children, Allen Smith (Trina), Charlie Smith (Alice), and Ruth “Ruthie” Smith McKinney; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Linda Saball and Chery Reynolds; brother, Alan Deuyour; and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Deuyour; and son-in-law, Carroll McKinney.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Olive Grove Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the church with the Revs. Terrill Crump and Jackie Price officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
