Geoffrey “Geoff” Lynn Hevel

Geoffrey “Geoff” Lynn Hevel, 79, of Morganton, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 9, 2022.
Born in La Porte, IN on July 27, 1942, he was the son of the late Harold George Hevel and Neva Mae Bulla Hevel. He grew up in North Liberty, IN and served in the US Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Geoff was a member of North Cross Church. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the UNC Tar Heels. He was a social person who loved people and never met a stranger. He had a strong work ethic and a passion for life. He loved playing golf.
Geoff is survived by his wife, Gloria Crump Hevel; daughters, Gina and Greta Hevel; grandchildren, Nicolas “Nic” Bowen (Ashley) and Erica Rose Wolfe (Clayton); great-grandson, Kolton Bowen; and brother, Duff Hevel (Diana).
In addition to his parents, Geoff was preceded in death by a sister, Betsy Compton.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Charles Crump officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to North Cross Church.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
