Virginia Laura Thompson Pearson Johnson

Virginia Laura Thompson Pearson Johnson, 76, died Monday, November 1, 2010 at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville. She was born in Avery County on March 27, 1934 and was a daughter of the late Roby and Laura Brown Thompson. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church and was a loving and Godly mother who loved puzzles and gardening.Surviving are her daughters, Janet Pearson Rager and Debbie Pearson Bolding and her husband, Michael, all of Morganton; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five step-grandsons; one step-great-granddaughter; brothers, Bill Thompson and Tom Thompson.In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Thad Johnson; brothers, Earl, Ed, Frank, and Richard Thompson; and by sisters, Alma Buchanan, Margaret Lane, Ruby McKinney, and Hazel Oakes and her first husband, Doyle Norman Pearson.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2010 at Burkemont Baptist Church with Dr. David Mills and Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the church.
