Stephen Wilson Rudicil

Stephen Wilson Rudicil, 69 of Morganton, NC passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, December 1, 2017. He was born January 6, 1948 in Burke County, NC and was the son of the late Leith McCoy Rudicil and Grace Olive Wilson Rudicil. Stephen was a longtime member of Valdese First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and choir member. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Stephen retired while working at Rutherford College Elementary School after he taught children at numerous different Burke County schools. He graduated from Morganton High School and Appalachian State University where he was an avid Mountaineer fan.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Abshire Rudicil of the home; son, William Robert Rudicil and wife, Dona of Rutherford College, NC; daughter, Allison Rudicil Little and husband, Sean of Hickory, NC; grandchildren, Karis and Tobias Rudicil; and grandsons, Dylan and Trevor Little; and will be missed by his pal Frazier.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Valdese First Baptist Church with Reverends Barry Keys and Josh Lail officiating. A gathering of friends will follow in the church fellowship hall.
