S. Walter “Willie” Kerns, 74, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2019. He was born in Virginia on October 31, 1944. Willie was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War during which he served as a medic and was a prisoner of war. He was a member of several motorcycle clubs.
Willie is survived by his girlfriend of 31 years, Cheryl Oswandel Rich of the home; a son, David Kerns of Baxter Springs, KS; a daughter, Monika Stephens of Seneca, SC; grandchildren, Alicia and Emma Lou Stephens, Michael Kerns, and Levi Heady; a great-grandson, Anthony Kerns; and a sister, Ruth Ann Boardman.
Willie was preceded in death by his first wife, Elfriede Monki Kaegi Kerns; and his second wife, Sue Kerns.
Services will be held at a later date.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family.
