Roger Dale Harris, 52, of Morganton, NC passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 15, 2024. He was born on November 12, 1971 in Burke County to Jack Stuart Harris and the late Nancy Jane Uselton Harris. Roger was a graduate of NC State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was co-owner of Ridgeline Building Corporation with his lifelong friend, Wesley Taylor. Roger was a master carpenter and a master mason. He will leave behind a legacy of residential and commercial buildings in which he was very proud. He always found peace and solace at Lake James. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, watching supercross and enjoyed spending time with his comrades.

He is survived by his wife, Melanie Perry Harris; daughter, Jessica Faith Harris; sisters, Lou Hogston (Ricky), Deana Carswell (David), and Jackie Loren (Sheila); four step-brothers and three step-sisters; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; step-mother, Sybil P Harris.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Jack Bost.

The family will receive friends from 11am-1pm Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at El Bethel Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at 1pm in the church with Rev. Justin Cunningham officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
