Nathaniel Ronald Wilson, 54, of Statesville, NC, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2023.

Born in Newark, NJ on June 15, 1969, he is the son of the late Nathan Lewis and Gloria Jean Washington.

Nate had a brilliant mind that kept him thinking and reinventing himself. He loved to work and use his God-given talent and artistic abilities to make things better. As a self-employed sub-contractor, Youtube was his favorite go-to when tackling a new project or assignment. His determination to get it right and not give up on his ability to learn was one of Nate’s many precious gifts.

He lovingly leaves to mourn his sister, Troy Pendergrass (Boris); nieces, Noel Prosper, Briana Loren (Damon), and Alexandria Nyala; aunt, Anne Ohene-Twum; uncles, Walter Wilson (Fannie) and Ronald Wilson; and many other relatives and friends.

We celebrate Nate as a family member, friend, and contribution to change in the lives of all who had the privilege of meeting him. He enjoyed being a challenge to those who shared his life and refused to back down when he felt he was right. Nate didn’t mind referring you to Romans 2:1 when he thought others were being judgmental. If he could leave a message for those he left behind, I believe he would say:

Don’t cry for me, but remember how you loved me.

I lived my life and had my turn at what it had to give.

Don’t cry for me, but remember how you loved me.

Just make sure you do all you know how and continue to live.

Don’t cry for me, but remember how you loved me.

And if I didn’t return the love as you gave, I pray you will forgive.

A celebration of Nate’s life will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, January 20, 2024 at The Church of Grace and Peace, 1563 Old Freehold Road, Toms River, NJ 08755.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
