Kenneth Bryan "Rabbit" Hawkins

Kenneth Bryan "Rabbit" Hawkins, 50, of Morganton passed away Monday, September 17, 2012 after an extended illness. Born in Burke County, NC on July 22, 1962, he was the son of Coila Ann Simmons Hawkins of Morganton and the late Billy Joe Hawkins. Ken was a past employee of Drexel Heritage and did handyman work in his later years.In addition to his mother, Ken is survived by his brothers, Waymon Hawkins and his wife, Kay, of Goode, VA and Joseph Hawkins of Morganton; a sister, Sheree Woody and her husband, David, of Spruce Pine, NC; nephews, Waymon Scott Hawkins and Jermey Hawkins; a niece, Jenelle Hawkins; one great-nephew; and three great-nieces.A graveside service will be held at Mt. Home Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date.Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
