Judy Epley Mills, 83, of Morganton, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 7, 2024.

Born in Burke County, NC on April 27, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Albert S. Epley and Bessie Lee Reeps Epley.

Judy was a lifelong member of Mountain View #2 Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She retired from the state of North Carolina, having served as a librarian at the Western Youth Institute. Judy enjoyed working in her garden, growing flowers, and especially spending time with her beloved family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Judy is survived by her husband, Buddy Lee Mills; son, Jerry Mills (Diana); grandchildren, Stephanie Mills (Andrew Zaborowski), Andrew Mills (Alexis), and Catherine Mills Randolph (Matt); and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to parents, Judy was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Tom, and Carroll Epley.

The graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Mountain View #2 Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Larry Combs officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Buddy, praying for you and the family during this most difficult season. I have many wonderful memories of Judy as a Sunday School teacher, friend and pen pal.
