Joseph Lee Franklin, 57 of Morganton, NC passed away, Tuesday, March 19, 2024. Born on November 30, 1966, he was the son of Rebecca Franklin and the late Dysart Franklin. Joseph was a member of Praise Assembly. He worked at a computer engineering company and also worked as a cook at Waffle House in Hickory. Later, Joseph was a tow truck driver for Holiday Full Service in Hickory.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 33 years, Velvet Franklin; children, Tasia Hicks (Shawn), William Franklin (Britany Walters); grandchildren, Jacob Melton, Makayla Hicks, Taylar Hicks, and Isabella Chalk; mother, Rebecca T. Franklin; sister, Lorna Coffey; several nieces and nephews; and close friends who he considered family, Kelsey Freeman, and her daughter Rachel Flow.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ruth “Nanny” Peague.

The family will receive friends from 2pm until 3pm, Saturday, March 23, 2023 at Praise Assembly of God. The memorial service will follow at 3pm in the church with Rev. Kevin Crawford officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
