James Thomas Taylor, 76, of Alexandria, VA died Tuesday, November 24, 2015. Born February 19, 1939 in Burke County, NC, he was a son of the late Robert Harrison Taylor, Sr. and Bessie Queen Taylor. He was a Glen Alpine High School graduate and attended Lees-McCrae College in Banner Elk, NC. James was a U.S. Army veteran and, for over thirty years, he was employed in the Washington, DC area by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Surviving are his brother, Bob Taylor, Jr. and wife, Myrtle of Savannah, GA; nieces, Rita Patina and husband, Raul of Bluffton, SC and Connie Kimball and husband, Mike of Savannah; a nephew, Robert Taylor, III and wife, Jeannine of Springfield, GA; and several great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Mountain View #2 Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth Mashburn officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Mountain View #2 Baptist Church, 4692 Dysartsville Rd., Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
