Hilda Towery Williams

Hilda Towery Williams, 75, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015 after a lengthy illness.  Born in Burke County, NC on March 13, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Arnold Lee Towery and Pauline Richard Towery.  Hilda was an active member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church where she was a member of the senior ladies Sunday school class, served as secretary, and served on the homebound visitation team.  Hilda retired from Kelly Color Lab in Morganton after 20+ years.  She enjoyed travelling, flowers, gardening, wildlife, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.  She especially loved spending time at their home on Walker Top Mountain.

Hilda is survived by her husband of 52 years, Norman “Bud” Williams of the home; a brother, David Towery of Morganton; a sister, Linda T. Coffey of Morganton; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Hilda was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Towery Robinson.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., Monday, September 28, 2015 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held in the church at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev. Shawn E. Thomas and Dr. Dewey Thomas officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
