Gregg “Maggie” McGee

Gregg “Maggie” McGee, 72, of Nebo, NC, passed away Monday, May 9, 2022.

Born in Burke County, NC on March 6, 1950, he was the son of the late Elbert Ed McGee and Sue Mae Carswell McGee.  Maggie retired from Broughton Hospital.  He was a member of the Glen Alpine Sports Hall of Fame and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.

A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Maggie is survived by his wife of 40 years, Wanda Smith McGee; sons, Treg McGee (April), Craig McGee (Amanda), and Josh Chapman; grandchildren, Ashton, Nicholas, Stevee, Statlee, and Starlee; canine companion, Warrior; and a close friend of the family who helped Maggie on the farm, Joe Steffey.

In addition to his parents, Maggie was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Cook.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  A celebration of Mr. McGee’s life will follow at 4 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Dennis Carswell officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
