George Henry Yount

George Henry Yount, 79, of Morganton died Sunday, October 7, 2018.  Born in Burke County, NC on March 17, 1939, he was the son of the late William Henry Yount and Rosetta Epley Yount.  George served in the U.S. Navy before serving and retiring from the U.S. Air Force after 23 years.  Mr. Yount was the owner of West 64 Cycle Shop for 40 years and enjoyed riding motorcycles with his friends.

George is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rose Marie Bolger Yount of the home; sisters, Harriet Norman and Vergie Walker, both of Morganton; brother, Edward Yount (Diane) of Texas; a number of nieces and nephews; and many friends.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Yount.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm., Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Chris Dale officiating.
