Elizabeth (Liz) Dalmas Lloyd

Elizabeth (Liz) Dalmas Lloyd passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018 after an extended illness. A true Tar Heel born and bred, Liz was born February 16, 1966 in Chapel Hill, NC, the daughter of Tina and Charles “Sam” Conley of Morganton and David and Dora Dalmas of Cornelius. A 1984 Freedom High School graduate, Liz graduated UNC-Chapel Hill with a BS in Biology and Science, continuing on to receive her MS in Zoology from Auburn University and MS in Neuroscience from Wake Forest/Bowman Gray School of Medicine. She taught high school biology at Greensboro Day School before returning to UNC-Chapel Hill to obtain her Doctorate in Pharmacy. After receiving her doctorate, Liz worked as a retail pharmacist finishing her career as a consultant pharmacist with PPD in the Research Triangle Park.

Liz lived an active life, was captain of her high school swim team, YMCA competitive swimmer, and coached swimming at Greensboro Day. She enjoyed hiking in the mountains, visits to the beach and scuba diving. Liz especially loved her cats and Labrador retrievers, music (The Beatles), reading and anything and everything to do with wine. She was known for her quick wit and strong opinions and was a passionate feminist who did not tolerate “mansplaining”.

In addition to her parents, Liz is survived by brother, Neil Dalmas and wife, Ashley of Frisco, Texas and maternal grandmother, Kathryn (Nanny) Whisnant of Morganton, in addition to step-siblings, Laura Griffith and Ashby Griffith, aunts, uncles and cousins and many close friends from each stage of her early life, educational and professional careers to whom she was extremely devoted.

The memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, April 21^st at the Waldensian Winery Annex.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
