Carroll Foster Smith

Carroll Foster Smith, 88, of Morganton, NC, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2021.  Born in Burke County, NC on July 24, 1933, he was the son of the late John Foster Smith and Mary Irene McGalliard Smith.  Carroll was a veteran of the US Navy and was a member of North Morganton Baptist Church.

Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter, Carol Smith Avery (Gary); grandchildren, Kelli Avery Weathers (Ryan), Jonathan Avery (Chris), and Randy Smith, II (Robyn); great-grandchildren, Graham Weathers, Hudson Weathers, Avery Weathers, Hannah Smith, and Grayson Smith; daughter-in-law, Debra McDaniel Smith; and sister, Dean Caldwell.

In addition to his parents, Carroll was preceded in death by two sons, Randy and Mark Smith; and his ex-wife, Darlene Smith.

The service will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, December 17, 2021 in the chapel at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Kenneth Baker officiating.  Face masks are requested by the family. Military honors will be provided by the US Navy.
