Bobby Gene Whisnant, 71, of Morganton, NC passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024.

Born on January 15, 1953, he was the son of the late Arvlee Whisnant and Marie Whisnant Brotherton. Bobby was a member of Victory Temple Full Gospel Church. He enjoyed fishing, his cats, and metalworking, but he most enjoyed spending time with his beloved family. Bobby was a hard-working man who enjoyed helping others.

A dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, Bobby is survived by his wife, Mary Beck Whisnant; son, Robert Whisnant (Erma); daughters, Amanda Whisnant Nolle (Alan) and Jennifer Whisnant Haufman; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Alfred Whisnant; sisters, Rachel Minton, Joyce Cash, and Kay Gosnell; and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Cody Nolle; brothers, Jimmy, Michael, and Jerry Whisnant; and nephew, John Boy Hicks.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Victory Temple Full Gospel Church. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with the Revs. Pete McCombs and Doug Worthy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Bobby was such a good person. He always tried to help others and eventhough he wasn't my dad he didn't treat me any different than my brother. He was very humble and will be missed. My prayers go out to all his family.
