Beatrice “Bea” Mae Mull Stroupe Hensley, 82, of Morganton, NC passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020. Born in Burke County April 17, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Carl E. and Lola D. Mull. She was a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church for many years. Bea had worked several different places, but retired from Broughton Hospital in 1998.
Among her many collections, she enjoyed collecting nutcrackers and salt and pepper shakers. She also loved reading and working find-a-word puzzles. She was very talented in working with flowers.
Bea felt it was her mission to make sure everyone received a card for whatever the occasion might be.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Wayne Stroupe; daughter, Jana Denise Shell; grandson, Terry Stroupe; brothers, Alvin Edward Mull, Howard Sylvester Mull and Rawlin Mull.
Bea is survived by her husband, Jack C. Hensley; daughters, Cynthia Diane Stroupe and Beverly Gayle Stroupe; step-daughter, Jackie Abernathy; sisters, Lucy Barger and Rebecca Jean Mull; grandchildren, Carli, Katie, Ashley, Merritt, Kasey, Tim (Jessica) and Chris,; step-grandchildren, Jennifer and Ashley; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm-2:30pm, Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Mt. Home Baptist Church. The service will begin at 2:30pm in the church with the Revs. Jerry Gamble, Tony Land, David Orders, and Preston Stainback officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Mt. Home Baptist Church Building Fund.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
