Annie Theressa Williams

Annie Theressa Williams, 91, of Morganton, NC went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, February 13, 2015.  Born in Burke County, NC on March 15, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Mouson Calvin Williams and Annie Celeste Brittain Williams.  Theressa was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir.  She retired from Drexel Furniture.  Theressa loved to garden and cook for her family and friends.  She never met a stranger.  She loved old-time gospel music and bluegrass music.

Theressa is survived by her sons, Bill Williams and his wife, Arlean, and Steve Alan Williams and his wife, Dawn, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Timmy Williams of Morganton, Brian Williams of Nashville, TN, Peggy Younce and her husband, Brian, of Granite Falls, NC, Dr. Amy Williams Buchanan and her husband, Adam, of Dahlonega, GA, Nathan Williams of Morganton, and Madison Williams of Morganton; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Shelbie Williams of Valdese and Aiden Younce of Granite Falls; a brother, Kenneth Williams and his wife, Virginia, of Morganton; a sister, Naomi O’Connell of Boca Raton, FL; and a number of nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents, Theressa was preceded in death by her husband, William Thurman Williams; a son, Randall Lloyd Williams; brothers, Hartsel, Clarence, Norbert, Floyd, and Larry Williams; and sisters, Bertie Lou Chapman, Carolyn Williams, and Eloise Dale.

The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 15, 2015 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with the Rev. Dr. Larry Cline officiating.  Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese.
