A. Hugh White

A. Hugh White, 91, of Morganton, NC went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 10, 2012. Born in Cleveland County, NC on June 18, 1920, he was the son of the late Moten and Grace Short White. Hugh was a member of Southside Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII.He is survived by his daughter, Wilda White of Morganton; grandchildren, Rev. Ashley Penley and his wife, Meredith, of Greensboro, NC and Nyoka Sabucco of Morganton; great-grandchildren, Aiden Penley, Rylee Kate Penley, Amelia Jayne Penley, and Adelina Sabucco; a brother, Earl White and his wife, Norma, of Hickory; and a sister, Nadine Sanders of Morganton.In addition to his parents, Hugh was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Estelle Towery White; a son, Gary White; and two granddaughters, Kristie and Sheila White.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 14, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Ashley Penley officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park with military honors provided by the N.C. National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
